Education:

Rice University – Houston, Texas

Ph.D., Department of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 2003.
Master of Arts, Department of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1999.

  • Thesis: “Linear-Time Algorithms for Graphs with Bounded Branchwidth”
  • Advisors: Drs. William Cook, Nathaniel Dean, Robert Bixby, and Alan CoxDeveloped an algorithmic framework (including a single data structure) and extended it into parallel and serial linear-time algorithms to solve several NP-complete graph problems. The linearity is achieved assuming the provision of a branch decomposition of the instance graph. In addition, designed a graphical package in Java to display a graph and branch decomposition, interactively show their relationship to each other, and run algorithms on graphs or branch decompositions and display their progress and results.
